Dropper!!!

Made a last minute decision to go aunti pond for some luring action! 3 angry anglers 2 rods 1 session!

Brought along our usual ammo. Minnowz, Ripple Shad, Curly Tail... Each one provided result.
However, i was probably the most kuku the whole night... dropped a total of 5fishes all while trying to lift up the fishes!!! lol!! noob!

I was using the Abu Conolon paired with a dunno what brand reel. Great stiffness on the rod provided a good jigging action to the lure... Jig Jig pause, Jig jig pause BOOM! fish on after about 5mins of luring... nice size barramundi on! Decided to lift the fish and then drop.... zzzz.. karma biting back...

so passed the rod to another AA assualt team... reel pause reel pause bam! fish on and up came this cute little 500g dart (kim chew) with the hook barely in its mouth. Nice!

i then switched rods and used AJN on Ultegra HG.. dunno how to use HG for luring... even slow winding happens to be normal speed... then Boom i hit another one... lift up drop argh!!!!

happened to me another few times.. the rest of the assault team did a good job and continue the attack while i keep firing blanks!  finally i had 2 fish up...

During the last few minutes of the assault, platoon mate had a big take while talking to me... reel went zzzzz then hook off.. most prob a 30kg gao i reckon (biggest fish is always the one that got away). more likely 8kg+ loL!

enjoy the pics and dont forget to join our Angry Anglers group on Facebook

Lure testing at neo tiew pond (aunti's pond)

I wanted to test out different colours and its effectiveness on local ponds. Each pond in singapore has its own characteristics and thus fishes will react differently to certain bait.
Auntie's pond recently has been good for baiters esp groupers.  Having change the layout of their pumps, they managed to move the fishes away from their usual camping area and into the open.
Last night I was usual several types of lure including berkley ripple and zman minnowz.
Both yielded several fishes but it ultimately the style of retrieve affects the bite rate more than the type of lure.
Last night takes were on fast retrieve, bottom dragging,  twitch/pause and jig/pause. It was my most hardworking session at a pond as I had to keep switching techniques to entice them to bite.
By the way, the rest of the pond didnt catch anything....

Stereotypes: Fishing

Epic Video of the sterotypes of fishing!
super funny.. enjoy!

Early morning session at LSR

Made a last minute arrangement with a Japanese coworker.

Decided to take him to a popular local spot. Lower seletar reservoir.

Loaded my trusty MC slicer and gaudy setup. All rubber swimbait today. Hahahaha...

Had a few chases on the jetty but they just turned away at the last minute.  Wondering why...

Sudenly my new Japanese fishing buddy caught a nice peacock bass just by rigging a plastic worm on whacky drop shot! Wow.... bass fishing at its most authentic!

Posed for a thumbs up shot and released unharmed.  His peacocks qre getting bigger.  Lolzzz..

When over to the tracks and still saw a few chases but no hookup for me. Everything became quiet at around 8 am so decided to go breakfast instead.

Overall, enjoyable day with great company!

Rubber lures rulez!

Planning this mission for a long time. Finally had a chance to try some lures which I bought overseas.

Place was really really far. From central Singapore (toa payoh) it took a 40mins drive to reach. Passing through some of Singapore's spookiest places.

Arriving unscathed quickly loaded up weapons and started casting on my classic zman 3in minnow.  Bam bam bam... few fishes up before release time.

Fish release and all the baiters were frantically casting to the net. As usual I rather let them have the net while I lure the parameter.

No more bites on zman. So decided to switch tactics and try another brand a different colour and size.

First cast boom! and another and another!
Now the rest of the anglers are envious and I can feel their eyes piercing through me. Sheesshh... I dont care!

All went quiet during the last hour of my session.  Had a few bites here n there. dropped a few but loads of fun. Final tally was an assortment of pond varieties as the picture shows. Kbl, mj, taiwan (red drum), snapper.

Recently I feel zman has been losing its novelty and its ability to outfish bait. There are a few key differences between zman and other rubber lures which I will address at a later time.

For now, I got a new favourite rubber lure... still a secret...

Bangkok fishing adventures

I always tell my friends that thailand is a place where the fishing is cheap and good...

here are a few pics i took during my recent trip there. check out the awesome varieties of fishes over there in just one fishing location. Place is Pilot 111 pond and I visit this place 2-3 times a year.

All of these were caught on the same day.. there really isnt anything else better than this... Btw the barramundi was caught and cooked at the restaurant in classic thai steam fish style.

Also tried another place call Sakuna Fishing Park where baiting is the game and big powerful patins and Giant Mekong Catfishes were the prey.

Those were not the only fishes I caught.. in total about 10 fishes were landed before I had to say I give up... Really was a "terrible" fishing day.. lol!

Intro

This is the start of something which I wanted to do for a long time.
I'm blogging about my fishing adventures both locally n overseas. Complaining along the way about everything. Being a grumpy old man basically.
