It was a hot day today!
Went to the legal grounds at Yishun Dam at 630am in the morning hoping to catch some early morning PB but arrived to see the water level very low. Receding about 1-1m from shore. Must be the recent rainless weather.
With the low levels of water, fishes are probably gathering in the deeper waters of the reservoir. Lure and lure and lure.. nothing!
Change spot and drove to the fishing jetty area.
As usual, weeds are everywhere. Out of 10 casts would prob yield 2kgs of weed. hahaha
Could see dredging works in the distance, clearing weeds. Wondering why are there so many weeds at LSR??!!
anyway caught a greedy little fellow while casting some mini rubbers from megabass.. enjoy!

Private Barra Pond!
Got an invitation to fish at a barraumdi farm. So gathered a few Angry Anglers and off we go.
It was a good day for fishing. Sun was shining, slight breeze. Still sore from the fishing. Let the video do the talking!

Pahang River Luring
Being born and breed in Singapore, the biggest river I saw was the Singapore River which i could cast a popper to the other side of the bank. So coming here I had high hopes. I was not disappointed.
First of all, the Pahang River is the longest river in West Malaysia. At almost 500km in length, it is a sight to behold.
I stopped at the quiet town of Triang for my vacation and had a short luring session. My friend did not promise me fishes but he promised me beautiful sights and I am totally in awed.
Driving along the river, one could see the magnificence of this mighty river. the sheer volume of water. the water column. Fisherman laying nets along the banks. You know that the people here depend on this river.
I have been told that there are patins, tilapias, common catfish, tapahs, snakeheads and other fishes.
However during my short session, I was not able to catch any but did see many fish surfacing in the water.
At least I got to eat a really good meal! Soon Hock cook in 3 different styles!

Broken Rod in exchange for a Chao Praya Catfish
I wanted to test the strength of my new Daiwa Tatula Type R so decided to bring it to FW3 for a short session.
Loaded the reel with 20lb line matched with Majorcraft Beneyro.
With many of the other baitcasters, not many people like to flip soft plastics on them as they are quite light. So decided to test it on Tatula. First 30mins, tested it with 1/6oz Jighead with Zman Pearl White Minnow. Flipping, overhead cast pose no obstacle for this amazing new reel from Daiwa. With the Type R that comes with CRBB, keeps you at ease even if you are fishing SW.
Getting bored so i decided to use liver on a big gamakatsu 4/0 circle hook. Cast out and watch the stars go by. Even before my bum could get warm, i saw my line peeling and quickly "jumped" up to "set hook". Damn! i forgot i am using circle hooks.. set hook and gone... crap!!!
reel back with only the chicken heart in place. ANGRY! cast out again with only the heart. with the smoothness of the reel, i could cast out and drop it right at the corner of the centre blue pump.
5mins had not even past when my line starts to go against the current. i slowly picked up my rod and tightened the drag. click click click... the fish felt the hook and took off like a rocket....
a tough man vs beast battle took place for the next 15mins. As i slowly thumb my reel and controlling the movement of the fishes head, i could feel it loosening its hold. It was less than 2m from the side when suddenly the fish shook his head in denial and broke the rod into 2. earth shattering sound followed by a "rod break liao" shout from an unknown neighbouring shelter.
cannot lose face... must bring back.
finally i got it to the fish handler who lifted it up for my photo opportunity.
It was so unexpected... its demise was so sudden...
Good bye my Beneyro...
but I'm not sad, I'm happy... happy that i got reasons to buy another rod
